Prolife Group, Bishops Lobby against RHA Abortion Bill

RHA-smallNew Yorkers for Constitution Freedom, Catholic bishops, and the New York State Catholic Conference lobbied in Albany Tuesday against a bill that would enshrine abortion as a “fundamental right” in New York through nine months of pregnancy.

Meanwhile the Concerned Clergy for Choice, who support abortion, released a statement urging Gov. Cuomo to pass the 10-point “Women’s Equality Act,” which includes the abortion bill, and the NYC chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW) called the bishops “out of touch.”   Read more.

Prolifers Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

IMG_5046Marching under the ‘Respect Life’ banner, 25 prolife supporters carried their message to the thousands of spectators, lining the streets of Pearl River for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade Sunday.

The Marchers represented various Rockland prolife organizations including the 40 Days for Life campaign, Divine Mercy, and the Rockland Right to Life Committee.

Howie Phillips, Haverstraw Supervisor, and his wife, Arlette, marched with the Respect Life again this year.

The grand marshal of the parade was Msgr. Ed Weber, former Vicar of Rockland and pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in W. Nyack, a strong supporter of prolife efforts in the county.

40 Days for Life — Week Four

As this Lenten Season nears its end, please take part of the national 40 Days for Life campaign. It may be one of those crazy, out-of-your-comfort-zone sort of sacrifices you normally wouldn’t consider. But it may be one of those remarkable opportunities that will bring untold graces not only to you, but to many caught up in the culture of abortion.

Only one hour for the next week to witness in public and pray for an end to abortion. The closing ceremony will be on Sunday, March 24

We are on public property from 9 am until 6 pm on Perlman Drive, in Spring Valley, and from 6 pm until 9 am at the St. Gregory Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel on 21 Cinder Road in Garnerville.

Stop the Reproductive Health Act

RHA-smallLast month, Gov.Cuomo announced his plan for legislation that would establish abortion in NY as a fundamental right. And once that happens, any of the restrictions on abortion — which even Roe v. Wade left to the states to decide — would be in danger, such as parental notification laws, banning the use of public funds for abortion, and conscience laws allowing individuals and institutions to refuse to participate in abortions.

As this issue is debated, here are various resources with information you need to have.  Check it out frequently. We’lll keep adding to the list. And please send us links to anything you find that we all need to know. Email RocklandRTL@optonline.net.

Day 1: 40 Days for Life Begins

securedownload-1The 11th 40 Days for Life observance in Rockland began with a prayer service on Ash Wednesday at the Planned Parenthood Prayer Site, on Perlman Drive in Spring Valley.

Day 1 -1Prayers were led by  Fr. John Palatucci from St. Paul’s in Congers and Fr. Joseph Kuzhichalil from St. Margaret’s in Pearl River.

The 40 Days for Life is a national prayer campaign to end abortion. It is taking place in 261 cities this spring, including Spring Valley and White Plains.

The Rockland location is across from the Spring Valley Marketplace on public property on Perlman Drive near the Planned Parenthood office. The time is 9 am to 5 pm. From 6 pm to 8 am, prayer continues at the St. Gregory of Barbarigo Eucharistic Chapel in Garnerville.
