RHA-smallNEWS ALERT

 NYS Right to Life Airs Radio Ads to Expose
Governor’s Extreme Abortion Agenda

Beginning today, New York State Right to Life is airing radio ads in several key districts to alert New Yorkers to Governor Cuomo’s extreme abortion agenda. This legislation seeks to make abortion a fundamental human right, comparable to freedom of religion or freedom of speech. It would allow abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, allow non-doctors to perform this surgical procedure and threaten the conscience rights of those who don’t wish to be complicit with abortion.

Sister Lucy Marie: Please Sign on to “Principles”

Sister Lucy Marie, of the Sisters of Life and Respect Life Coordinator for the Archdiocese of New York, has sent this message:

rhasign1Dear Friends,

As you are aware, we have been working for the last few months to organize opposition to the Reproductive Health Act, the bill that would expand abortion here in New York.

A coalition has been formed with other state-wide groups, called New Yorkers for Life, as a focal point for these efforts. New Yorkers for Life has been asking for organizations to sign in support of the “Statement of Principles.”

Here is the current list of organizations which support the principles of New Yorkers for Life. [Among them, you’ll find the Rockland Right to Life Committee, Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship in New City, Good Counsel Homes, the Rockland Catholic Coalition, Living Waters Fellowship in Suffern, Sacred Heart Church Respect Life Group, St. Francis of Assisi Church, and Blessings of Health in Stony Point, 40 Days for Life (Spring Valley, NY), Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Anne #866 (Piermont, NY), Help Rescue our Children (Monsey, NY), Men’s Club of St. John’s Church (Piermont, NY), Respect Life Group (Rockland Cty,  NY), St. Augustine Youth Group (New City, NY),
St. Margaret’s Pro-Life Cenacle (Pearl River, NY), St. Margaret’s Altar and Rosary Society (Pearl River, NY)
]

We would like for there to be many more organizations signed on so we are again encouraging all parishes, K of C Councils, religious orders, pregnancy centers, small businesses, etc. to review this and spread the word and get many more to sign on the statement of principles.

Our goal is to take the list into legislative offices to show our lawmakers that organizations in their districts support life and are opposed to abortion expansion.

Thank you and God bless you.

Prolife Group, Bishops Lobby against RHA Abortion Bill

RHA-smallNew Yorkers for Constitution Freedom, Catholic bishops, and the New York State Catholic Conference lobbied in Albany Tuesday against a bill that would enshrine abortion as a “fundamental right” in New York through nine months of pregnancy.

Meanwhile the Concerned Clergy for Choice, who support abortion, released a statement urging Gov. Cuomo to pass the 10-point “Women’s Equality Act,” which includes the abortion bill, and the NYC chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW) called the bishops “out of touch.”   Read more.

Stop the Reproductive Health Act

RHA-smallLast month, Gov.Cuomo announced his plan for legislation that would establish abortion in NY as a fundamental right. And once that happens, any of the restrictions on abortion — which even Roe v. Wade left to the states to decide — would be in danger, such as parental notification laws, banning the use of public funds for abortion, and conscience laws allowing individuals and institutions to refuse to participate in abortions.

As this issue is debated, here are various resources with information you need to have.  Check it out frequently. We’lll keep adding to the list. And please send us links to anything you find that we all need to know. Email RocklandRTL@optonline.net.

Survey: New Yorkers Oppose Cuomo’s Proposed Abortion Expansion

RHA-smallNo surprise. Even in New York, 80% oppose unlimited abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy, and 75% oppose changes in the current law that will allow non-doctors to perform abortions, according to a statewide survey.

In the proposed “Reproductive Health Act,” Gov. Cuomo and his allies in the abortion lobby go far beyond the sensible restrictions on abortion most New Yorkers support. Click here to read about the survey, which the Chiaroscuro Foundation released today on the steps of New York City Hall.

The Reproductive Health Act would, among other things:

  • Allow non-physicians to perform abortions;
  • Remove criminal penalties even from unlawful abortions;
  • Prevent an unborn child who is the intended victim of a crime from being recognized as a victim;
  • Prevent any limitation on use of taxpayer funds to curtail New York’s Medicaid policy of paying for abortion-on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy;
  • Deceitfully redefine pregnancy as beginning at implantation – not fertilization;
  • Falsely redefine fetal (child) viability and
  • Unleash new assaults on the consciences of those who oppose participating in abortion – health care professionals, hospitals, hospital residents, and health insurance providers.

Prolife New Yorkers Push Back on ‘Reproductive Health Act’

RHA-smallNew York prolife advocates appear to be successfully pushing back against “The Reproductive Health Act,” a bill that would take virtually every prolife law off the books and promote late-term abortions

Just a few weeks ago, prolife state senator Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) said, it looked like Cuomo had the votes to ram the legislation through the 63-member Senate. But strong public opposition led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York and the New York Catholic Conference (NYCC) to Cuomo’s inclusion of the Reproductive Health Act in his women’s equality bill has raised awareness about the abortion expansion and generated unease among some lawmakers, Diaz said.

Gov. Cuomo Pledges to Help Foster MORE Abortions in NY

RHAIn yesterday’s State of the State address, N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo pledged to pass the Reproductive Health Act, a controversial bill designed to further liberalize abortion law in New York State. New York’s abortion regime is among the most liberal on Planet Earth already.  The notion that women need more access to abortion in New York is simply preposterous. Read more here.
