Come to the March for Life — Jan. 22 [updated]

Untitled-design-7The March for Life in Washington, D.C., began as a small demonstration on Jan. 22, 1974, the first anniverary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decision of Roe v.Wade, and rapidly grew to be the largest prolife event in the world!

This peaceful demonstration is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.

This year, the theme of the March for Life is Every Life Is a Gift. It will focus on the right to be born of children diagnosed with fetal abnormalities like Down Syndrome, Trisomy 13, or spina bifida, for whom the abortion rate can be as high as 90 percent.

You may know such a child personally or have heard stories of how special children with special needs have had a rich, purposeful life even in the face of the many challenges and have brought joy and happiness to their families.

Come march with your fellow Rocklanders this year to bear witness again that every child is born with the God-given right to life.

We leave Rockland around 6 a.m. UPDATE: THERE WILL BE ONE BUS. IT WILL PICK UP MARCHERS AT SACRED HEART IN SUFFERN AT 5:15 A.M. and THEN GO TO ST. ANTHONY’S IN NANUET. THERE IS NO CHANGE IN THE ST. ANTHONY’S BOARDING TIME. IT IS 5:45 A.M. You may park your cars there. The fee is $25 adults, $12 students. If this is a hardship for you, please call one of the numbers below. We have an “adopt a marcher” program supported by our members that will help pay for your ticket.

UPDATE: THE BUS IS FULL AND WE HAVE A WAITING LIST. BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ON THE WAITING LIST, PENDING CANCELLATIONS, PLEASE CALL ONE OF THE NUMBERS BELOW.

The buses are luxury motorcoaches  comfortable and with lavatories. We’ll stop at a rest stop on the way down and back. But remember, you’ll be outdoors and on your feet most of the day. So be sure to dress warm – in layers. It can be very cold. Bring some food for the bus and a snack for the March.

The Rally starts with a musical opening at 11:45 a.m. Then the Rally itself runs from 12 to 1 p.m. The March itself takes place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For a map of the March route, click here.

After the March, we’ll go to the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, traveling together by taxi (around $15, shared among riders) or subway ($2.15). There you’ll be able to warm up, grab something to eat in the cafeteria, attend Mass if you’d like, and see this great church. Our buses will pick us up at the shrine. We leave D.C. around 6 pm, and should be home by 11.
