Sunday, March 18, was an absolutely perfect day for celebrating life at the AOH’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Pearl River. Among the marchers in the Respect Life unit were Rev. Jim McKenna, SDB, director of the Marian Shrine, Haverstraw Supervisor Howie Phillips and his wife, Arlette, and Peter Skae, who led the group as our piper. More photos follow. Doesn’t look like much of a battlefield does it? A bit of muddy ground on the side of the road next to a suburban strip mall. And these folks who come here – they look more like your friends and neighbors than any army in a “battle between life and death.”
And yet, that is what goes on here – every day. They come with their prayers and their love. And in this commonplace setting, these ordinary people quietly join ranks with all those around the world in prayer that hearts willl be changed, abortion will end, and lives will be saved.
If this is important to you, please come. The power of a single prayer cannot be underestimated.

Report — Number of Planned Parenthood Clinics Declines Again
A committed prolifer carried his message about Planned Parenthood to Rockland Community College on Sunday, March 11. That’s where the nation’s largest abortion provider was to be found that afternoon, handing out their propaganda to the children of Rockland attending the County YouthFest. His signs provided some serious food for thought as the festival-goers approached the campus. They read “Planned Parenthood Will Kill 1000 Babies This Week” and “Planned Parenthood Is Aiding and Abetting Underage Sex Trafficking With Your Tax $.”
New people continue to come to the 40 Days of Life to pray, people who believe in the power of prayer.
It’s the power to save a life today or to plant a seed in the mind of someone who years later may consider abortion but remember a certain sign she once saw on the side of a road. It’s the power to bring healing and hope to someone after an abortion.

olls = lives savedThe Senate today voted down an amendment to restore the religious liberty protections for employers who don’t want to be forced to pay for coverage of birth control or drugs that may cause abortions in their employee health plans. The vote was 51-48. Both New York Senators — Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand — voted against it.
This issue is hardly over and done with. The mandate is already the subject of many lawsuits. Among them are The Eternal Word Television Network and Priests for Life, both of which organizations would be forced to pay for coverage of sterilization, contraception, and abortion-causing drugs in health insurance under the mandate.

And so we come to defend the most precious Gift of Life: wonderful family groups, the Knights of Columbus, leading the charge to defend life, Msgr. McCabe from St. Mary’s, who has prayed here every Sunday for the last ten 40 Days for Life campaigns, and all our faithful volunteers.
This week a passerby asked what we were doing here. Our volunteer explained our calling to pray and be present to those in a crisis pregnancy. He thanked us for what we were doing.
