Sisters of Life Moving To Rockland

The Sisters of Life at the Rockland County Life Chain in Nanuet

The Sisters of Life are preparing to move into Rockland County — to a convent in Montebello which will become their new motherhouse.

We in Rockland are truly blessed to have the Sisters of Life coming to live among us.

There is much work to be done throughout the convent building and grounds. The Sisters will be repairing plaster and painting from water damage, designing and finishing two chapels, installing almost 100 light fixtures…and doing a lot of basic clean-up!

They could use your help. Every Saturday thru Dec. 10 will be volunteer days to help prepare their new home. Everyone is invited  from 10 am to 4 pm — no experience necessary! However, if you have a knack for plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and anything in between … the Sisters will put your skills to good use! Lunch will be provided.

Volunteers are also welcome on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm.

The address is 38 Montebello Road, Montebello, NY.

The Sisters of Life are a religious community of women founded in New York in 1991 by John Cardinal O’Connor for the protection and enhancement of the sacredness of every human life.

Their mission includes their Holy Respite home in Manhattan which welcomes pregnant women vulnerable to the pressures to abortion; the Visitation Mission pregnancy help program; the Villa Guadaupe Retreat House in Stamford, Conn.;  and the Entering Canaan program of hope and healing after abortion. They also direct the Family Life/Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of New York, which supports parish pro-life activities and family programs.

The Sisters share God’s love with all, and work to spread the charism of life, person to person, one heart at a time.
