At the end of the journey -- The Rockland marchers at the Supreme Court
At 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, we began to gather — at Albertus Magnus High School and in the parking lots of Saint Gregory’s and Saint Francis’s Church.
It was dark, raining lightly and just about freezing. The roads threatened to be icy, but for the most part they weren’t. But no matter the weather, the prolife marchers from Rockland would be there. And so we head south to Washington, D.C., three buses among hundreds coming from all points of the compass, converging on the National Mall. Members of the prolife community gathered on Perlman Drive in Spring Valley Sunday near the Planned Parenthood office to remember the 53million victims of abortion since the Supreme Court decision of Jan. 22, 1973, that overturned all state laws to protect the unborn. Events for the 39th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., will be rebroadcast tonight and Saturday. You can see the Rockland banner go by around 15 minutes after the actual march begins.

On Jan. 21, a snowy Saturday, the Holy Hour for LIFE began right after the 5 pm Mass at St. Peter’s Church in Haverstraw, NY.
People from all walks of LIFE came to pray for the protection of the most vulnerable among us — the unborn.
A beautiful singer named Carolyn was accompanied by two gifted guitarists as the music moved our souls to the depth of our very being.
Carolyn’s pin says: JESUS, PROTECT AND SAVE THE UNBORN- Carolyn recently gave birth to a baby girl.
As the service began, the altar servers processed to the altar carrying the crucifix with pastor of St. Peter’s Father Thomas Madden and Father Fredy.
Jesus would even pay for the sin of abortion on His Cross. Jesus paid in full so forgiveness, mercy, and healing could happen.
Throughout the hour of prayer there were beautiful roses on either side of the altar. The rose is the sign for the pro-life movement.
Father Madden read us Psalm 139:
“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
Father Fredy prayed the Divine Praises in Spanish during Benediction.
He spoke about the need to pray for God’s protection for the unborn for God hears every prayer.
As people prayed the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary, alternating the decades between English and Spanish, you could almost hear the babies’ soft voices, as if they were joining in the PRAYER POWER!

The annual March for Life is set for Monday, January 23, only a little more than a week away, and the Rockland Right to Life Committee is busy preparing for a successful trip.
The buses to Washington have been chartered, reservations are coming in, and the banners that we’ll carry have been checked to make sure they’re in good shape.
We’ve laid in a supply of 150 of the “famous green scarves” for the Rockland marchers. That’s what those curious green bags contain in the photo. Provided by the Sisters of Life, these scarves are a way to maintain to a spirit of unity and solidarity as well as keep our marchers warm and toasty. The scarves are worn by everyone coming from the Archdiocese of New York and are a great way to identify fellow New Yorkers in the crowd. The scarves are green to honor St. Patrick, of course.

Volunteer workers' cars fill the parking lot of the Sisters of Life Motherhouse.
For five months, volunteer carpenters, electricians, and general workers have been busy transforming the old Marydell convent on Montebello Road in Suffern into the new Motherhouse for the Sisters of Life.
