Prolife Rabbitt and Larkin Win in Rockland

New York State Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt

New York State Senator William J. Larkin Jr.

Congratulations Annie Rabbitt and William Larkin – and thank you, all who supported them, for bringing us some rays of hope on this bleak day after the election.

At least in Albany, Rockland will have two strong prolife voices to oppose abortion and support protections for unborn children and their mothers.

Both endorsed by the NYS Right to Life Political Action Committee, Rabbitt will represent the 98th Assembly District (part of Ramapo in Rockland, and part of Orange County) and Larkin, the 39th Senatorial District (Haverstraw and Stony Point).

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Larkin, a Republican, garnered 51,418 votes to Democrat Christopher Eachus (D)’s 46,401. Rabbitt (R) defeated her opponent, Gerard McQuade (D) 23,307 to 18,739.

While there’s not a lot of other good election news from a prolife prospective, we thought those of you who were supporting the candidates endorsed by prolife and religious political action groups (in bold) would nevertheless be interested in seeing how they fared.

Our thanks go out to our courageous prolife candidates and those committed supporters who campaigned so hard in their behalf. We may have lost some battles, but that’s nothing new for the prolife movement. The past 40 years have not been easy, but we never give up. Only that would be our ultimate defeat.

We believe that in each and every person — born and unborn — we see the image of God. And that we’ll never deny, and that will keep us going.
