The annual March for Life — usually held on Jan. 22 — will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, this year.

This event has been rescheduled due to Inauguration events in Washington earlier in the week.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion-on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy.

Over the years, millions of prolifers from every state in the union have come together in Washington, DC, to protest that decision and bear the message to the nation that the unborn are human beings and, as such, have the most basic human right not to be killed by others.

Please join us this year, and come to Washington, DC, on a journey for life that you’ll never forget.

Buses will leave from Sacred Heart Church in Suffern and St. Paul’s Church in Congers at 5:45 am. You may leave your car in the church parking lot. The pastors ask that you please park away from the buildings.

We’ll depart from DC around 6 pm and will be back in Rockland around 11.

You may bring food on the bus and we’ll stop at a rest stop on the way down and back. The buses have lavatories.

The day’s events in Washington include the Rally at the Mall from 12 noon to 1 pm, followed by the March along Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court Building.

After the March, we’ll go to the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where you can warm up, grab something to eat in the cafeteria, attend Mass if you’d like, and see this beautiful church.

Transportation from the March to the Basilica is by cab or subway, so bring some money for the fares. You can share a cab with other marchers and split the cost.

Please dress warm, in layers. You’ll be outdoors most of the day and it could be very cold. You’ll be on your feet for long periods and there will be a lot of walking, so this trip is not for anyone who has problems getting around.

We’ll provide  green scarves for all our Marchers. But if you have your scarf from last year, please use it to help keep our costs down.

For reservations or if you have questions, please call 735-4379, 492-6709, or 634-6885.

The bus fare is $20 adult, $12 child.

If you’d like to go, but the cost is a problem, please call one of the numbers above. We’ll be happy to make arrangements for you to pay what you can afford, and we have donors who “adopt” a marcher and pay the rest.

If you can’t go yourself for health or employment reasons, but would like to help by adopting a marcher ($20 adult, $12 child, $50 or more to be a Bus Angel), please send your donation to: Rockland Right to Life, PO Box 9348, Bardonia, NY, 10954.

If the weather is bad and the bus company (West Point Tours) deems the roads too dangerous to drive, we’ll cancel the trip and return your money.
