A bill to repeal major portions of Obamacare passed the House of Representative Thursday by a vote of 217-212. Not one single Democrat voted for it. The bill now goes to the Senate for their consideration and will probably face major revisions there.
The bill, The American Health Care Act, contained a provision that would eliminate $390 million of federal spending to Planned Parenthood and redirect those funds to community health centers that offer a wider array of healthcare services — but not abortion.
Also, the American Health Care Act would reinforce the principles of the Hyde Amendment, which has historically prevented tax payer dollars from being used to pay for abortions, thus reversing Obamacare’s “multiple provisions authorizing federal subsidies for abortion, and abortion-expanding regulatory mandates,” according to the National Right to Life Committee.
Rockland’s representative in the House, Nita Lowey, voted against for this bill.
By Sean Patrick Miller, guest blogger and author of Full of Life.
Why did the Lord come to us as a defenseless baby? It is so ironic, really. Here, the King of Kings, the King of the infinite allows Himself to be totally dependent on finite creatures that are full of weakness and fragility. He is placing a good deal of “trust,” in us despite our inclination to fall quite easily.
Was He sending us a message?
If the all-powerful God can place Himself in our frail hands then, perhaps in our difficulties, we can place ourselves in His forever faithful Hands. This can be true in any circumstance. Most especially, for the newly pregnant mother. This mother holds within her a most fragile human being that is reliant on her for everything. Yet, in many ways this new mother feels her own fragility as her body is constantly changing throughout her pregnancy in order to accommodate “her new little miracle.” Continue reading
On Friday, Sept. 18, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on two major prolife bills.
Your action is needed! Please do not fail the babies.
Even though it is unlikely that our representative, Nita Lowey, will vote for this legislation, your support is needed as part of the grass roots groundswell that has swept the abortion issue to the forefront of the nation’s attention in the wake of the publication of the Planned Parenthood videos. We must take advantage of the momentum that has given to us.
What you need to do: Contact Rep. Lowey as soon as possible and ask her to vote FOR these two bills. Send an email Thursday night or call and leave a message — or email or call Friday morning.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
